Air transportation is provided through the Cumberland Regional Airport in Wiley Ford, WV.

BURLINGTON APPLE HARVEST PARADE
Dear Friends,
The Burlington Volunteer Fire Department will be participating in and hosting, along with several other area organizations, the 39th Annual Old Fashioned Apple Harvest Festival. The festival will be held at the Burlington Children’s Home grounds on the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd 2010.
On Saturday and Sunday the grounds will be open to all and there will be plenty of games, food, arts, crafts, and a lot more for your entertainment. If you have not attended this big event, you won’t want to miss this weekend.
One of the highlights each year is the parade, which will be held Saturday, October 2nd 2010 at 4 p.m. We cordially invite you to participate in the Annual Apple Harvest Parade. Line-up will be held at the Burlington Fire Department at 3 p.m. This parade gives you the opportunity to display your organization’s talent and equipment to the citizens of Burlington, Mineral County, West Virginia and the Tri-state area. We request that you do not use your sirens during the parade, as we want everyone to enjoy it. Candy may be thrown.

Bands: 1st place - $200 and trophy
2nd place - $150 and trophy
All marching groups in line of March with musical instruments $100.00
Floats: 1st place – trophy & $50.00
2nd place – trophy & $25.00

LONACONING, MD — A pre-dawn fire Saturday at Uncle Willie’s Place at 15914 Lower George’s Creek Road in Lonaconing destroyed the business. The 4:46 a.m., fire was discovered by a passerby, prompting response of volunteer firefighters from Allegany, Garrett and Mineral counties along with the Allegany County Fire Police for the 3 alarm 2 story business fire. A total of 28 Fire and EMS companies responded and or were placed on stand–by for the incident with no injuries to either emergency responders or civilians. . The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said the building housing a bar, kitchen and dance floor was destroyed by the blaze. The loss was estimated at $250,000 to the 1 1/2-story wood frame building and $50,000 to its contents.

BURLINGTON, WV. — Again the Burlington Fire Department was alerted for a rekindle of the brush fire from March 11, 2014 on Lark Hollow Road. Forestry Units were on the scene advising there were several hot spots they wanted extinguished before the expected high winds arrived and blew embers to start another fire. Brush 44 responded and handled the call. Brush 44 cleared after working for around an hour.

BURLINGTON, WV. — Fire departments from 3 counties battled a brush fire on Lark Hollow Road. The Burlington Fire Department responded and once they arrived on the scene they advised that 3-5 acres were burning and to alert New Creek, Keyser and Fountain fire departments for brush trucks and tankers to also realert Burlington for a tanker. Muliple units gained access to the fire front and stopped it from spreading any further. Additional units from Romney, Petersburg and Maysville were also alerted. Units operated on the scene for around 4 1/2 hours before returning in service. The Piedmont Fire Department and Elk District Fire Company performed standby in different stations while other units operated on this call.
