Located in the extreme eastern part of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia,
Jefferson County was named for Thomas Jefferson, third president of The United States.
In Jefferson County there are seven volunteer fire departments.
Four of the seven departments also run ambulances from their station.
The oldest department in Jefferson county is the Shepherdstown Fire Company formed in 1972
with the newest department being the Middleway Fire Company formed in 2008
These departments are run by dedicated volunteer EMTs, Paramedics, Firefighters,
and Administrative personnel.
The Jefferson County Ambulance Authority Works with 4 of these Stations,
staffing the stations during the hours of 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The JCAA only run EMS calls for Jefferson County and man the stations with one EMT
and have a Paramedic chase car that follows or meets units on scene to transport patients.
The only exceptions are as follows :
Independent Fire CO 4 which staffs a full EMT/Paramedic crew
Shepherdstown Fire CO 3 which staffs only a Paramedic that either
responds alone to meet the chase car or one of the volunteers drive for them
Please check back often for updates as we continue to add more information to the site.
