Shenandoah Subdivision

CSX K765 Departs Aug 14 2011 The Shenandoah Subdivision extends from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia southwest to Strasburg, Virginia along a former Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road line. The northeast end is at a junction with the Cumberland Subdivision at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and at its southwest end it intersects with Norfolk Southern Railway’s B-Line extension at Strasburg, Virginia.

HISTORY:
The section from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia to Winchester, Virginia opened in 1836 as the Winchester and Potomac Railroad. The Winchester and Strasburg Railroad opened the rest of the line in 1870. The line became part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and CSX Transportation through leases and mergers.

CSX reminds the public that walking along or inside of railroad property is illegal.
